Restaurant Branding - Daisy Blue

Since the beginning of Feburary, I have been commissioned to design the logo for a restaurant opening in Haddington, Edinburgh, called DaisyBlue.

The logo design has undergone multiple transformations based on my clients vision.

The general briefing for the logo design, was to find a font style close to a "hand written" form and a unique illustration that defines the restaurant theme or ties in closely with the name.

The design below is the original design I made for him. The font closely resembles his hand writing and the daisy and positioning of each letter was chosen through phone communication.

After discussing business cards and menu designs. I felt he needed to see an option on a different background. We previously spoke of only introducing blue and white as the colour scheme up to this point.

The logo went under transformation once again. Yellow was introduced and a gradient added to the blue base.

To add an extra element to the logo, he wanted it to be embosed to make it stand out.

Ice Cream Sunday

This week I have been designing the poster for a live band night in Edinburgh at the Banshee Labyrinth, called "Ice Cream Sunday".

I created the illusion of text using a technique called negative space. To do this, you build up the letters by positioning object of similar theme, close together until they fit the font outline.

The splatter effect was created using multiple paint brush strokes of various colours, eye dropped from their corresponding edges.

Banner Designs

My latest work has been developing Banners for an I.T company in London called Bluewire.

Home I.T. Services - Banner 1

The banner above (banner 1) will be the first in a set of sliding banners used to advertise the different aspects of their business. The banner below shares another entire aspect to their business altogether.

SEO and Web Developments - Banner 2

These help to break down the services offered into tangible chunks for the browser to grasp.
Banner 2 needed that extra design element to convey to the browser what they are about to read, before they read it. This was achieved by designing a magnifying glass effect to highlight the business details, making the design personal to Bluewire.

Both of these banners are currently watermarked with my company name, these will not be seen in the final designs.

The company, Bluewire has requested for me to design two other banners for them. These will be posted on my blog as soon as they are ready for the client.

Vinyl Foamex Board Designs

I have finished three separate designs commissioned by "The Scottish Soapworks". These Designs are to be printed on self-adhesive vinyl and mounted onto 5mm foamex boards for their trade fair in Birmingham.

The photographs were all taken individually from their magazine and edited before arranging along side their copy. A white background with their logo  is the standard template that I used for all three as it is sleek, clean and speaks quality.

The images originally came with a dark background and was simply removed using image processing tools before following their guidelines.

Once again, excellent communication and kindness made this all possible and worthwhile.  

A Definition of Foamex

Printed Foamex (also known as foam board, expanded PVC board, forrex, foamalux...) is a lightweight ridgid board that is popular for exhibition use.
It is primarily designed for indoor use, however is commonly used for outdoor signage.

Only Feel Love

Feel Only Love is a new song I recorded and produced at home personally. I have grown a great interest in atmospheric guitar and delayed vocals inspired from neo-psychedelic rock. Using panning, delays, along with reverb creates a transcendental dissonance atmosphere that I love and becomes almost unintelligible without adding a element of colour to the mix, to bring back the original consonances.

Remastering Tracks

Currently, I am remastering the live set of a local Edinburgh band called "King Eider" formally called "Zopa and the Shakes".

These tacks will be produced along side video footage that they shot at Stuart "Pockets" Crouts event at Banshee Labyrinth, "Ice Cream Sunday". "Ice Cream Sunday" is an event that is hosted by "Jen and the Gents" on the last Sunday of every month.

Once "king Eider's" tracks are produced and online, they will be posted up here.

Lebowski's Events

Below is the poster I designed for the Christmas gig I organised at Lebowski's, Morrison Street, Edinburgh, 2012. The Night was a great success and followed on from a previous gig at the same bar that was held September the 28th 2012.

The band logos are also my design, the "Jen and the Gents" logo is the same design as the album cover that I designed that same year. I designed this logo for "Ulysses Jones" when I performed with them. I continued to perform with them up until the Edinburgh Fringe August, 2012.

To this day I am the lead guitarist for "Jen and the Gents" and perform regularly around the Edinburgh area and we be playing at festivals within the UK this summer 2013.

Here I will post media based around my work until I have a nice new website up and running.

I will be tutoring Guitar for Beginners at £10 per hour from Jan 2013 up until the end of March 2013.
